WTC: Entries and Votes Needed!

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 19, 2008, 9:18 PM

Apophysis is not the work of one single person. We are a community and every member deserves recognition for our present success. Both Administrators and Members do what you see here for fun and for the love of our communty. We won't change that!

Milestone!

Nearly four and a half years after this group was created, we have hit an incredible 500,000 pageviews!

Let me just throw out a huge thank you to all of our members, staff, and visitors, both past and present. Without all of you, we wouldn't still be an active group, nor the central place to go for all things Apophysis.

Here's to (hopefully) one million views in the near future! :excited:

Hello fellow members, this is the new meet and greet section. This is where I will randomly put a members name from the members list so that you can visit someone new and spread the community spirit. So please visit our random deviant of the day and let them know they are part of a great community.

Now you can view the previous random deviants by going to the membership list website and the last 10 previous random deviants will be on display for you exploration.

(please NO suggestions for a random deviant as all members will be displayed here eventually and randomly. thanks =cmptrwhz.)

Todays random Deviant is:

Here are the winners from the WTC: Happiness

Tied for First Place:

Vincent's daydream by ~Martilena

and

Night Garden by *Szellorozsa

Second Place:

Psychadelic by ~ba8y6irl

Third Place:

Universe Crackin Happy by ~zweeZwyy

Congrats, you four! Remember: you're out for the next two WTCs.

Be sure to read the rules, which can be found here - [link] . Remember, you can vote for up to three entries! To vote, send the names of your top three deviants in a note entitled WTC Vote to *Apophysis. The votes are due by Friday, July 25, 2008, at midnight EST!

Here are the entries for the WTC: Jealousy! This means you cannot enter this theme anymore.

Edit: After a week, I've only recieved two votes for these wonderful entries, c'mon people, send in your votes!

--------

It has been a long time since you guys have had a chance to enter a WTC, so let's go with a bit of a broader theme, something everyone has a different opinion on, but something we all look forward to: The Future

We all know Apophysis can create some amazing things, but let's see what you think we will see in the future, plasma coils, warp cores, supercomputers, nanotechnology, just submit whatever you think may be seen in the future.

Examples:

To enter, send a note to *Apophysis entitled WTC Entry with the thumbcode of your deviation. Entries for The Future theme are due by Midnight EST on Friday, July 25th, 2008. Good luck, and have fun!

Edit: After a week, we have only six entries! The voting needs some more input to determine some winners, but more entries would be appreciated.

As such, both entries and votes will be taken for another week!

--------

If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, feel free to note either the group *Apophysis or me, `Phoenix-22! Also, if you notice an error in the journal, please note me and I'll fix it as soon as possible!

Edit: Please send notes and questions to `cmptrwhz for the upcoming week as I will be out of town, thanks!

Thank you for responding and the link. I see that fractals represent many of the patterns in life, such as snowflakes, spiral shells, and galaxies. Would you have interest and the time to enter the Map of Life Cooperative Art Event?

Fractals are the building blocks of life. Here's some fine examples of fractals in nature.. [link]

Also, with the 3d fractals you see a lot more of these days it's possible to create just about anything including strings, atoms, molecules and so much more.

Hope this helps answer your question. :D

I enjoy your gallery of fractals. Cool expressions!

Could fractals be created to appear (in a visionary way) as the building blocks of life - strings, atoms, molecules?

All of the images in the gallery were made with the program by the same name as the group, Apophysis.

You can get the base version here:

Then be sure to get the latest version with new variations, an improved interface and render times, and other things at sourceforge:

help! I just got Apophysis and i am going through tutorials but some of them tell me to do something but no matter what i do i can't get it to work the same. Can you or someone help me? I am keen to experiment with fractals but need more info on how to develop them. If there are any comprehensive tutorials you know of or any help... can you point me in the right direction? Thanks and i love your work!
